Dr. Shriraam Mahadevan
Dr. Shriraam Mahadevan is currently heading the department of Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism at the Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Porur, Chennai. After completing his training in internal medicine and later DM fellowship at the prestigious Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India, he worked briefly in private hospitals in Chennai before moving to the academic institute. During his tenure, the DM Endocrinology course was started in the institute in 2019.
He has been an astute clinician, academician, and a passionate teacher right from his training days. He has several publications in reputed journals to his credit with special interest in bone mineral metabolism, thyroid disorders, and diabetes. He has authored many chapters in textbooks of Endocrinology, including the latest book released by the Endocrine Society of India. His special interest is focusing on the application of newer developments in the endocrine field, possible modification to suit the needs in a resource-constrained setting (where he is working predominantly).
His current areas of research include HDL functional analysis, gut microbiota and bone health, indigenous food supplements & vitamin D2 levels, and genetics of Paget's disease of bone. He has been an active member of the Endocrine Society of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and served at various capacities including finance secretary and vice president.

He holds office as the Secretary of the Endocrine Society of Andhra Pradesh. Prof. Subrahmanyam is the Former Chairman, AMC research forum, Andhra Medical College, Andhra Pradesh.
