Dr. Satinath Mukhopadhyay

Dr. Satinath Mukhopadhyay is a Professor in the Department of Endocrinology & Metabolism at IPGME&R, Kolkata. He has trained numerous DM and PhD students over his career.

With over 300 publications in high-impact journals (h-index 50, citations > 49,000) and multiple textbook chapters, Dr. Mukhopadhyay is a recognized expert in his field. His paper in *Nature Medicine* entitled ‘Fetuin-A acts as an endogenous ligand of TLR4 to promote lipid-induced insulin resistance’ has been cited more than 900 times.

He serves on the editorial board of many international journals and is an examiner for PhD programs at both Indian and foreign universities. Dr. Mukhopadhyay has received several prestigious awards, gold medals, and orations, including the JS Bajaj Oration from the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India, in 2021, and the MMS Ahuja Oration from the Endocrine Society of India in 2014.

A member of the ISBMR, he serves on the Governing Council of Worldwide Cardio-Diabetology, New York. Dr. Mukhopadhyay’s research has significantly advanced our understanding of the molecular basis of insulin resistance. In recognition of his contributions, he was invited to deliver a members-only lecture by the American Endocrine Society on October 4, 2023.

He is also the editor-in-chief of the book *Metabolic Syndrome: from Mechanisms to Interventions*, published by Elsevier (Global).
