Dr. Nitin Kapoor
Dr. Nitin completed his DM & Post Doctoral Fellowship in Endocrinology at CMC, Vellore. He then pursued his PhD research on community and hospital-based cohorts to study the clinical and genetic indicators of obesity from the University of Melbourne, Australia. Dr. Nitin has been recognized as among the top 2% of most influential researchers globally by Stanford University, USA in October 2023 and 2024.
Dr. Kapoor has received several prestigious awards, including the AR Seth Gold Medal by the Endocrine Society of India (2020), Young Investigator Award by the Sri Lankan Endocrine Society (2019), Melbourne Research Scholarship (2016-2020), Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR University Gold Medal in Endocrinology (2015), AV Gandhi Award for Excellence in Endocrine Research (2014), IJEM Award for Excellence in Endocrine Writing (2014), and many others. In 2022, he was awarded the President’s Award of Appreciation by the Endocrine Society of India for his contributions to the society.
With over 350 PubMed-indexed peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals, Dr. Nitin's primary research focus lies in Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome, Pituitary Disorders, and Metabolic Bone Disease. He has been instrumental in the creation of "A Practical Guide to Diabetes Mellitus," first published in April 2018, and currently serves as the editor of both the current and previous editions. Dr. Kapoor is also the Section Editor for Obesity in Endotext, a PubMed-indexed endocrine textbook since 2022. Additionally, he holds the position of Editor-in-Chief for the Asian Journal of Obesity and serves as an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Diabetes in Developing Countries and Clinical Obesity, the official journal of the World Obesity Federation.
Dr. Nitin Kapoor is actively involved in leadership roles, serving as an elected Executive Committee Member of the governing council of The Endocrine Society of India (2022-2025), All India Association for Advancing Research in Obesity (2022-2025), and as the Honorary Joint Secretary of The Indian Society of Bone and Mineral Research (2023-2025). He has also been elected as a member of the Education Working Group of the International Society of Endocrinology (2024-2026).
