Dr. Kripa Elizabeth Cherian
Dr. Kripa Elizabeth Cherian is an Endocrinologist by training and is currently working as Consultant and Professor at the prestigious Christian Medical College, Vellore, a university-affiliated teaching hospital in southern India. She has a keen interest in the field of osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease and has been privileged to be involved with several research projects in this domain.
She has more than 100 publications to her credit and has been a reviewer for several journals. She has also authored several book chapters pertaining to osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, and endocrinology. Dr. Kripa has won several awards and accolades, including:
- AR Sheth Award for Excellence in Endocrine Research 2024 – Endocrine Society of India
- The Phoebe Leboy Professional Development Award (2023) – American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR)
- Endocrine Society of India Yuvaratna Award (2023) – for her research work on bone loss in Indian postmenopausal women
- IJEM Best Review Article Award (2022) – for her manuscript on chronic alcohol consumption and bone health
- Senatus Prize for Best Paper (2020) – Christian Medical College, for her research on bone density and stem cell transplant
- The MGR Medical University Medal (2018) – for first rank in DM Endocrinology
- The President’s Gold Medal (2018) – for first place in DNB Endocrinology
- Endocrine Society of India – Young Scholar Award (2017) – First Runner Up
Dr. Kripa intends to continue her research work in osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, while engaging in teaching and mentoring successive batches of students, and extending service to all her patients and the community at large.
