Professor Dirk Lund Christensen
Dr. Dirk Lund Christensen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and a former employee at the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge, UK. His research interests focus on the diagnosis of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in populations exposed to malnutrition, infections, and other adverse environmental factors.
Dr. Lund Christensen has been involved in various studies, including research in India on physical activity and body composition in young men born with low birth weight, in Tanzania on cardiometabolic risk in young adults exposed to placental malaria (hypoxia) during fetal life, and in Pakistan on diabetes diagnosis in tuberculosis patients and differences in anthropometric phenotypes. His research also extends to studying risks in indigenous populations in Latin America, Africa, Arctic regions, and Australia, with a focus on their life conditions in relation to cardiometabolic health and disease.
