Professor Gordon Thomas
Clinical Professor Gordon Thomas is a paediatric general and transplant surgeon working at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead in Sydney, Australia. He has led the paediatric transplant and general surgical unit at Westmead for several years and is recognized for his significant contributions to the care of children in New South Wales. He has been honored for both his clinical work and leadership in the field.
Gordon’s primary clinical interest is liver and kidney transplants for children. He also coordinates the Total Pancreatectomy with islet auto-transplants for children at Westmead, one of only two units in Australia performing this procedure. His strong links with Vellore are rooted in his time as a student and faculty member at CMC, where he received training before moving to Australia.
While at CMC, Gordon’s artistic talents were recognized, and he was commissioned to create paintings reflecting the foundational values of the institution. Some of these paintings are displayed in the hospital halls of CMC, where they continue to serve as a reminder of his contributions.
