Professor Mandeep Bajaj

Prof. Mandeep Bajaj is the current President of Medicine and Science of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) and a leading figure in diabetes care and research. He is also the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs in the Department of Medicine and a Professor of Medicine and Molecular and Cellular Biology at Baylor College of Medicine.

Prof. Bajaj serves as the Section Chief of the Section of Endocrinology and Diabetes and the Medical Director of the Diabetes Program at Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center. Additionally, he is the Editor-in-Chief of the British Medical Journal Open Diabetes Research and Care (BMJ DRC), published jointly by the ADA and the BMJ Group.

He has received several prestigious awards, including the Banting Medal for Leadership and Service and the Outstanding Physician-Clinician in Diabetes Award from the American Diabetes Association. He has also been honored with the Master Clinician Lifetime Award and the Fulbright & Jaworski Faculty Excellence Teaching Award from Baylor College of Medicine.

Prof. Bajaj’s clinical and translational research interests focus on the metabolic and molecular mechanisms of insulin resistance in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. He is also deeply involved in the pathophysiology and treatment of Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD).
